We went to the advanced screening of The Irregular at Magic High School movie!
It has been three years since the broadcast of the extremely popular 2014 TV anime series The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei) and now it returns to the screen as The irregular at magic high school The Movie -The Girl Who Summons the Stars- It is a brand new story written by the original author Tsutomu Satou.
In preparation for the Japanese release date of 17 June, we headed to the premiere event to answer all your questions about the movie’s highlights, the outline, and all the characters!
Seasons have passed and he was just trying to get through one year of school life at a magic high school. The protagonists, Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, and their friends make use of their long spring vacation to visit the Ogasawara Islands. A girl named Kokoa appears in front of Tatsuya and the rest as they are relaxing. Kokoa had escaped from a naval base and in order to grant her ‘one wish,’ Tatsuya and the others get to work. This is the beginning of a story in which ‘Tatsuya Shiba becomes a legend.’
Tatsuya Shiba, voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, enters school as an outcast because of a certain defect but has an outstanding fighting ability and amazing engineering skills. In this movie, a girl’s wish wish is entrusted to the irregular Tatsuya. His younger sister, Miyuki (voiced by Saori Hayami), who has an extreme brother complex and can’t stop loving Tatsuya, is very beautiful and also a powerful magician with the ability to freeze a person’s consciousness. The all-too-familiar classmates of the Shiba siblings and the extremely popular character, Angelina Shields, a magic teacher from America, also appear in the movie.
In the midst of this, the new character to pay attention to is the mysterious girl Kokoa (Konomi Kohara). She has long black hair and a doll-like appearance and is enveloped in mystery. She meets Tatsuya and the others just when she escapes from the naval base. Why did she escape? When Tatsuya and his friends understand the reason why, the reason is how this new fight begins!
The theme song was performed by pop rock duo GARNiDELiA, known for the vocalist MARiA’s powerful and outstanding vocals. They have also sang the theme for the TV anime. The up-tempo rock tune ‘SPEED STAR’ adds enthusiasm to the appealing screenwriting of the original author, Tsutomu Satou.
The highlights of the movie are…
☆The fighting scenes in which Eri is especially cool!
The interpersonal struggle is forcefully conveyed. There are many scenes where salary is decided through magic, so the coolness of Erika swinging around her weapon is outstanding.
☆Big brother Tatsuya in a cloak is already a hot topic on social media.
He looks like Darth Vader. His lookalike would not have been saving people but destroying planets and scattering them around.
☆It’s vacation so there are swimsuits!
It is a vacation on an island so there are swimsuit scenes. The female characters increase their femininity and cuteness. Miyuki’s beauty in particular is scaled up.
☆The magic is overwhelming
We really want to bring Angelina’s magical prowess to attention. The characters that use magic have extreme destructive abilities all the while having an expression that says, ‘This is nothing.’
☆Miyuki’s love for her big brother doesn’t stop.
Miyuki’s ‘Onii-sama’s are endless. In the 26th episode of the TV series, Miyuki said ‘Onii-sama’ 172 times, but how many times doe she say it in the movie? Be sure to check!
