Hi everyone! I’m Sayo and my favorite anime is Sword Art Online. Ever since the start of the TV anime series, I’ve absolutely adored Asuna. She’ll be my 2D waifu forever. I even celebrated the wedding anniversary of Kirito and Asuna with a special cake I ordered for the occasion.
To commemorate the release of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, an AR show took place on 15 February. I’m going to give you a full account of the event, as well as talk about what makes the movie so good. Are you ready? LINK START!
The AR (Augmented Reality) Live was held to commemorate the release of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale consisted of a screening of the beginning of the movie, a talk show with the movie’s director Tomohiko Itoh and Tsukuba University Assistant Professor Yoichi Ochiai, and a special concert that utilized AR technology to bring us the AR idol, Yuna, on stage.
The main theme of Sword Art Online was always the world of VR (Virtual Reality). Players in SAO could ‘FullDive’ into the world of VR using FullDive machines, such as NerveGear and AmuSphere. It’s everybody’s dream to escape reality and dive into a fantastic world, isn’t it? The movie, however, revolves around the world of AR instead of VR. I was totally fascinated by the world of AR which I experienced at the event.
The event kicked off with a screening of the first few minutes of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale. It has been almost 5 years since the TV series began airing, and I remember how excited I was when they announced the feature-length movie at the end of the second season. When the release date was announced last year, I got even more excited for the movie’s release. The only thing I could do is watch the first and second season of the TV anime again and again. I, the SAO obsessive, can now declare that Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale is a masterpiece!
I loved the Aincrad Arc because it lured me into the SAO world. Since the movie revolves around AR, though, it takes place in the real world where Asuna and Kirito live. Die-hard fans like me were crying in joy when scenes that reminded us of Aincrad appeared.
Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale- can attract all kind of audiences: those who love the Aincrad Arc, those who prefer the other arcs, or even those who haven’t watched SAO at all. As a devoted fan, I’d be really glad if people started watching the TV series and join our worldwide fan community after watching the movie.
