Hello, this is Okuno!
This time I was able to go to a collaboration cafe dedicated to one of my favorite anime, My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) at GOOD SMILE x animate Cafe! The collaboration focuses on the main characters’ internship episodes, which means you’ll see a chibi version of charismatic villain, Stain, and a special dish dedicated to him too!
The details seen in the food and drinks shine!
Every dish on the menu shows their attachment to the characters with attention to detail. Let me show you some of the most impressive ones.
First, take a look at this!
Lord Explosion Murder (Katsuki Bakugou) x Best Jeanist, Wrap Sandwich!!!
The blue-colored tortilla definitely looks like denim… What an amazing replication. You can hardly find colored wraps like these in Japan. And the tightly wrapped sandwich reminds you of Best Jeanist himself… (or more particularly, around his neck.)
They serve you two pieces of wraps with different fillings; one ha sausage with chili con carne and the other has steamed chicken with lettuce. I really enjoyed the first one. The chili is spicy hot and the sausage is meaty and juicy! The filling absolutely represents Lord Explosion Murder – oops, I mean, Bakugou. On the other hand, the smart and healthy filling of steamed chicken and lettuce represents nobody else but that fashion leader, Best Jeanist.
It was a filling and satisfying dish.
The next one is Stain’s Sweets Plate!
Every single item on the plate looks so fancy and cute, but somehow it gives you the chills. I wonder what makes it so eerie… At least, it’s something different from general sweets I’ve ever had! This plate of sweets portrays Stain-sama so perfectly. Thank you very much, my dear animate cafe…
The greatness of this plate, however, is not in its first appearance; they give you with a knife in the shape of Stain’s blade! That sounds perfect enough, but it becomes even better when you cut the cake with it and see the red berry sauce inside. The red frozen scoop next to the cake is blood orange sorbet. The red color reminds you of blood, but more importantly it works as a pleasant palate cleanser from the sweetness of the fondant au chocolat. What perfection! It’s a work of art!!!
Needless to say, the drinks they serve are great too! Let’s check out Tsuyu-chan, or Froppy’s, Kiwi Fruit Drink.
It has large dices of kiwi fruit in it! It makes you happy every time you take a sip and enjoy the flesh of kiwi and its seedy texture. A cute gummy frog sits on top of the whipped cream. Nom on it whenever you feel like.
Now, look at Uravity’s (aka Ochako-chan’s) Hot Oshiruko Latte.
This pink whipped cream and white dumplings in hot and sweet oshiruko (azuki bean porridge) drink perfectly matches cute Ochako-chan. It looks girly and its appearance is great for photos. Despite its appearance and name, however, it isn’t overly-sweet. It’s a mellow hot drink that you can relax and enjoy slowly to feel warm as the season changes.
The Most Popular Dish
I asked which dish on the menu is the most popular, but they told me that everyone orders their own favorite character’s dish and all are equally popular. I guess that means all the characters in My Hero Academia are loved by the fans, and I was pleased to hear it.
I actually gave up on trying this time, but Mt. Lady Parfait is such a huge dessert that it takes about 2 to 3 people to finish! It must be very fun to share it with your friends!
