The premiere screening event for Non Non Biyori Vacation took place in Tokyo’s Kadokawa Cinema Shibuya on 25 August 2018. The four main cast members – Kotori Koiwai (voice of Renge Miyauchi), Rie Murakawa (voice of Hotaru Ichijou), Ayane Sakura (voice of Natsumi Koshigaya) and Kana Asumi (voice of Komari Koshigaya) – attended the event.

After two seasons of TV anime, this movie is the newest part of the story. Both the cast and the fans seemed to be delighted to see the story continue in this form. The opening of the stage started with the familiar ‘Nyanpasu!’-call and got the crowd excited within seconds. Even though the screening took place first thing in the morning, the place was packed with fans and the merchandise sold well. After the movie, a loud applause thundered through the cinema.

In this movie, the characters of the Asahigaoka branch school all win the main prize in a lottery and get to go to Okinawa! While it is overflowing with the usual Non Non Biyori-charm, they also encounter new friends in the movie, resulting in the feeling of watching a ‘new’ Non Non Biyori at the same time.

Our beloved characters meet a new character called Aoi Niizato, voiced by Shino Shimoji, who blends into the world of Non Non without issues as if she were there from the beginning. The animation was beautiful, the music breathtaking, and the cast gave a perfect performance as well, presenting us with the newest Non Non in the best possible way.

Even though it had been a while since the cast had performed as their Non Non Biyori characters, they managed to create the same atmosphere as before right from the start of the recordings. They didn’t even have to think about it. Watching the cast members on stage, you could see how well they got along with each other. Just like within the series, they felt very relaxed and spread this feeling in the world.

This movie will leave you with a warm feeling in your heart, as the cast also mentions. It is perfect to watch at the end of summer because you can watch it over and over when you think ‘I don’t want the summer to end.’

The cast were very impressed by the fans that came to the cinema so early in the morning and were very thankful for their support and mentioned that they hoped they would stay this supportive. The host of the event mentioned that it hadn’t been decided yet for how long the movie would be screening in cinemas and motivated fans to come and see it again by saying that they should all enjoy the ‘Non Non Biyori Summer Holidays’ all throughout fall and even far into winter!

The cast members said good-bye and then joined the fans in the cinema by putting their right hand in the air and said ‘Naynpasu!’.
