Fall 2017 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
The MANGA.TOKYO staff had its share of summer. Now, all we wish is for the hot and humid weather to go away and give its place to the red and cool autumn.
On December 15, the Noitamina Project Presentation 2017 was held at the head office of Fuji Television Network. In the two hours of the presentation they revealed tons of new anime information. We can’t take our eyes off any of the anime coming up in 2017!
The master of ceremonies was Nippon Broadcasting System’s announcer Hisanori Yoshida along with Sayuri Matsumura from the idol group Nogizaka 46. The presentation was broadcasted live on LINE LIVE.
The midnight animation slot named ‘Noitamina’ began in April 2005, and has aired many programs, including Hachimitsu to Clover (Honey and Clover), Mononoke (Evil Spirit), Higashi no Eden (Eden of the East), Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (We Still Don’t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day), and more.
Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome (The Night is Short, Walk on Girl) directed by Masaaki Yuasa (animation studio Science SARU) will be released on April 7, 2017. The movie, originally written by Tomihiko Morimi, is a funny yet heartwarming love story between senpai, a college boy, and his crush, ‘the girl with black hair’. In the past, Yuasa has directed Mind Game and Pingpong, as well as an episode of Adventure Time, titled ‘FOOD CHAIN’.
At the presentation, Yuasa mentioned that he would reveal information about an upcoming original animation film in Spring 2017.
The animation film Genocidal Organ (Gyakusatsu Kikan), originally written by Project Itoh, will finally be released on February 3, 2017. Project Itoh is a sci-fi author who unfortunately died at a young age. This movie would be the last work of Project Itoh to be adapted, following Shisha no Teikoku (The Empire of Corpses) and Harmony. The movie adaptation of Genocidal Organ was previously postponed due to the closure of its production company. In order to continue making the movie, former Noitamina producer Kouji Yamamoto established GENO STUDIO.
The first trailer revealed a profound scene with Beethoven’s dramatic ‘Moonlight Sonata’ used as the background music. At the presentation, sci-fi author and scriptwriter Tou Ubukata, the original story’s editor Yoshihiro Shiozawa, and director Kouji Yamamoto came up on the stage and spoke about their memories of Project Itoh at the time he was writing Genocidal Organ.
Kuzu no Honkai (Scum’s Wish) will start this January on Noitamina. Chika Anzai, who plays Hanabi Yasuraoka, and Nobunaga Shimazaki, who plays Mugi Awaya, came to the presentation as guest speakers. They talked about the characters and the story. The opening and ending videos of the animation were also revealed.
Kuzu no Honkai will also be adapted into a live-action drama series starting from January 18, 2017, so the two stars Miyu Yoshimoto (Hanabi) and Doori Sakurada (Awaya) came up on stage during the event. There was a stir in the audience during the two characters’ love scenes. It was also revealed that the concluding story of the original comic series and the final episode of the anime version would both be released some time during Spring 2017.
At the presentation, new information on anime starting in April such as Saenai Kanojo no Sodatekata♭ (How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend: Flat), DIVE!, Inuyashiki as well as information on the film Kouetetsujou no Kabaneri (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) were revealed.
We will be back to report on these four anime in Part 2 of the Noitamina presentation!
