The ‘Nipponbashi Street Festa’ is a festival featuring cosplayers in manga and game related attire and is held in every March. This time around 250.000 visitors participated in this colorful event.
About 1000 cosplayers from Japan and overseas participated in this event so that the venue was very crowded and full of handsome cosplayers and visitors who wanted to get a glimpse and take photos of the so well made costumes.
Of course we from Manga.Tokyo have been there, too!
First, right after the opening speech, a parade was held.
On this day the mai street was a paradise for pedestrians since it was closed for cars especially for this event. That made it possible for the cosplayers to locate on various spots and get their photos taken by a lot of visitors.
Of course you would expect Japanese cosplayers participating at this event. But here and there you could spot even cosplayers coming from overseas.
Not could we only see a lot of classic characters from mangas and animes we had seen when we were children but also characters of the current seasons animes.
We handed cards out to everyone we have taken photos of.
Designed by our editor Emi, our card didn’t show the URL of our website but the saying: ‘VOLUNTEER BLOGGER AND TRANSLATORS WANTED’.
Actually our team is looking for volunteers who want to help us writing or translating manga and anime related articles.
If you’re interested, more infos here!(Recruit Volunteers)
We have participated at the ‘Nipponbashi Street Festa’ for the first time this year and I must say, I slightly regret that I didn’t do any cosplay …
※Actually our ‘Luigi’ and ‘Pickachu’ from our female staff was quite popular.
I was very surprised by the high quality of the cosplayer’s costumes. Especially the girls were very cute!
Next year I will gather some courage and participate in the cosplay event, too!
Manga.Tokyo plans to visit many other events, too.
If you spot us there, please feel free to talk to us!
See you soon!
