Kimi no Na wa participated in Asia’s biggest international film festival in Busan, Korea.
Shortly after the official movie screening at Hanuruyon theater, director Makoto Shinkai and the main voice cast members, Ryunosuke Kamiki and Mone Kamishiraishi, appeared on stage to greet the audience.
Korean fans have been eagerly waiting for the official screening of Kimi no Na wa. There were many people who stayed up all night to get tickets for the movie. The tickets were sold out in four minutes, showing how popular the movie is in Korea. When Shinkai, Kamiki, and Kamishiraishi came on stage, they were welcomed by the Korean audience with a wild applause.
Shinkai said, ‘I’ve heard that so many people waited in line to purchase the tickets and there were also lots of people who couldn’t join the event. Please stay tuned for the public release in January.’
The main voice cast members, Kamiki and Kamishiraishi, greeted the audience in Korean saying ‘annyeonghaseyo yeorobun’ (‘Hello, everyone’) and everybody cheered them!
The guests took a casual walk in the popular dating spot, Dongbaek park. When asked a question about their first impression of Busan, Shinkai said, ‘I’m so excited as I’ve wanted to visit Asia’s largest film festival for a long time. I strongly feel that the entire city is setting the mood for the festival.’
The next event they attended was a press conference at Dongseo University. They answered questions from over 100 international media representatives.
Shinkai was asked about his next work, ‘Although there has been no plan yet, I’d like to create one more good movie that can entertain everyone. I want to see if I am capable enough to do so.’
During the screening, the audience laughed at the movie’s comical scenes, and they were all amazed by the breathtakingly beautiful scenes. Shinkai, Kamiki, and Kamishiraishi enjoyed the movie along with the rest of the fans.
