Voice actress and singer Inori Minase held her first ever concert tour, Inori Minase Live Tour 2018 Blue Compass, at 4 major cities across Japan starting on 9 June. The tour is named after her second album, Blue Compass, which was released in May. This article is a report on the final performance of her concert tour, where 8,000 excited fans gathered on 1 July at Makuhari Messe.
With the introduction of ‘Heart no Iro’ (Color of the Heart), the first song from her new album, Minase appeared on stage in a striped dress. After shouting ‘Makuhari! Let’s liven it up together!’ to heat up the audience, she said ‘Despite my name, which can mean “praying for water”, I’ve been lucky enough to have had fine weather at every concert! [laugh]’
Then, after saying, ‘Let me hear your voices right until the end! Now, let Blue Compass begin!’, she performed ‘Ai-Mai-Moko’. the opening to the anime Tsuredure Children. Most of the audience were waving their LED glow sticks in Minase’s colors of light blue and pink.
After changing into a yellow dress decorated with sunflowers, she performed ‘Sho-Bee-Doo-Wap-Wap!’ and ‘Cinematic Diary’. She charmed the whole audience while making little jumps, springy steps, and cute moves matching the songs.
She also told us that she learned how to skip. She happily informed us how she learned it as she started learning dancing, and showed it off on stage. The audience let out surprise cheers as they watched her skipping on stage.
After saying ‘I’m going to sing some summer songs now,’ she performed ‘Natsu no Yakusoku’ (Summer’s Promise) and ‘Natsu-yume’ (Summer Dream). The refreshing songs were a perfect fit for her gorgeous sunflower dress, and she flashed smiles at the audience as she sang.
In the second half of the concert, she showed up in a red dress for a refreshing change. ‘Million Futures’ drew huge cheers to unite the audience, and she heated it up with ‘Hoshikuzu no Contrail’ (Contrail of Stardust), singing the rock song in a mature tone. For the next song, ‘Sangatsu to Gunjou’ (March and Ultramarine), she promptly changed into a blue checkered dress on stage and continued her performance to sing ‘Arpeggio’. As she sang ‘the moon’ and ‘stars’ from its lyrics, the starry illumination dazzled behind her and above her head and the stage looked like a starry sky. When she performed ‘Happy Birthday’, she congratulated the fans born in July with the song’s ‘Congratulations!’ part.
‘The next song is the last one,’ she announced, and then regarding the announcement of her joining King Super Live 2018 at Tokyo Dome on 24 September and in Taiwan on 30 September, she commented ‘I have opportunities to see you again with smiles, so let’s keep doing our best till that day!’ She performed the tour’s title song, ‘Blue Compass’, for the last song. She sang with tears in her eyes, taking in every single word of the lyrics as if she were talking to the audience.
After she left the stage, the audience members started cheering for an encore with ‘Iii-Nooo-Rin!’. Their prayers were answered when she reappeared down the aisle in a tram cart. She performed ‘Melody Flag’ and ‘Ready Steady Go!’, and both she and her fans energetically swung around their concert towels.
Cries of ‘One more’ did not die down, and Minase was called back to the stage to perform ‘Massugu-ni Toumei-ni.’ (Straight and Transparent), a tribute song to the soda Kirin Lemon. She said she had been secretly practicing the song. The song hasn’t been released and it was the very first time for her to perform it live, so the audience let out even bigger howls of joy.
Finally, she said with a smile, ‘I’m really happy that I had a great time with you all! I love you, everyone!’ and expressed her gratitude to close the finale concert with 22 songs in total.
