Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Fes 2018, the large-scale Halloween event popular with many cosplayers from within Japan and overseas, took place in Tokyo last weekend on 27 and 28 October 2018.
The event takes place for the fifth time since 2014 and is located in the Ikebukuro area, which is well known to any anime fan as it is the location of the Animate main store and also known as the ‘Otomoe Road’.
Approximately 80,000 fans came to the event even though the weather was very uninviting. They held an opening ceremony with cosplayers from Japan, China, and Korea. Representing Japan was the active nurse Nashiko Momotsuki, China was represented by the exchange student Chaye Xiao Guo Ringo, and Korea by TaeYeon.
Within the cosplay area was another special area called ‘Gachi Satsuei Area’ in which camera maker Canon introduced the newest cameras and equipment like lenses with which visitors could take pictures of the most popular cosplayers. There were also stage events and booths for JRA, Identity V, and more. So not only cosplayers and photographers could enjoy the event but also all the other fans who simply wanted to enjoy the colorful gathering.
Our friends from Anime! Anime! were also there to take a few pictures. Here is an amazing gallery full of beautiful cosplayers!
