Idolish7 is a popular smartphone rhythm game which lets the player help realize the dream of a group of young male pop idols. Since its release 3 years ago, the game has been downloaded over 2.5 million times. With so many fans supporting them, those idols held their very first concert titled Idolish7 1st Live Road to Infinity. The event took place at the Met Life Dome in Saitama on 7 and 8 July 2018, and thanks to the live viewings in Japan and overseas, it was enjoyed by around 120,000 fans. This report will cover the 7 July performance.
This concert featured not only the titular group IDOLiSH7 but also the two other main groups, TRIGGER and Re:vale. The atmosphere before the performance was intense, with fans clutching concert towels, penlights, and other idol merchandise ready for the performance to begin. It was then that each of the 12 members appeared on the big screen one after another, and the fans’ screams shook the entire area like an earthquake. The opening act then appeared on stage, which was of course IDOLiSh7. They gave a passionate performance of ‘Monster Generation’, after which they greeted the audience. They went on to perform ‘Dancing∞BEAT!!’, ‘Joker Flag’ and ‘Perfection Gimmick’, and although they were passionate, they almost couldn’t compare to the intensity of the fans as they waved their light sticks in time to the song and shouted at the tops of their voices.
Then, when the members of TRIGGER appeared in their gorgeous dark outfits, there was an absolute explosion of screams and applause! The trio moved to the center stage in the middle of the audience to perform TRIGGER’s debut track ‘Diamond Fusion’. The animated music video played on the big screen and dancers appeared to replicate the choreography with their cool movements. The audience was transfixed as the group passionately performed ‘Secret Night’ and ‘Last Dimension ~Hikigane wo Hiku no wa Dare da~’. With no time for the audience to even breathe, Tamaki Yotsuba and Sogo Ohsaka’s duo MEZZO appeared on stage. The tension continued to rise in the arena as MEZZO performed ‘Ame’and ‘Koi no Kakera’. After their performance, the long-awaited Re:vale appeared on stage and performed ‘Silver Sky’ and ‘Dis one.’, showing off their charm as the senior group.
All 12 members then appeared onstage together to talk to the audience, and then the show moved on to performances from the Shuffle Units. Iori, Riku, and Tenn performed ‘Fure Fure! Seishun Sanka’ and each member got into individual trolleys and moved around the audience, making sure to wave back at them. Fans went absolutely crazy at the performance utilizing a mic stand during Tamaki, Sogo, and Ryunosuke’s ‘LOVE&GAME’. Yamato, Mitsuki, Nagi, and Gaku then performed the energetic ‘Danshi Tarumono! ~MATSURI~’.
All groups then reappeared on stage to talk to the audience again and then left as the big screen showed some of the most meaningful lines from the first two chapters of the in-game story. IDOLiSH7 then reappeared on stage to perform ‘RESTART POiNTER’ while wearing costumes from the music video of the same track. The audience were then treated to passionate performances of ‘Sakura Message’ and ‘GOOD NIGHT AWESOME’. The audience got a pleasant surprise as Sogo Ohsaka’s voice actor Atsushi Abe played the piano himself onstage. The area was filled with a beautiful melody and loud cheers. Re:vale then appeared on stage in new costumes and performed ‘NO DOUBT’ and ‘Kiseki’. The duo appeared during NO DOUBT while sitting down on luxurious sofas which moved down to the center stage, pushing the Met Life Dome to its limit. After Re:vale’s performance, TRIGGER reappeared on stage. They started by performing ‘DAYBREAK INTERLUDE’, which plays an important part in the third chapter of the in-game story, followed by ‘Heavenly Visitor’ and ‘Leopard Eyes’.
They performed ‘MEMORiES MELORiES’, ‘Nanairo Realize’, and ‘PARTY TIME TOGETHER’, getting the audience even more heated up. After taking a commemorative picture with the audience, the group went on to perform the anime opening theme ‘WiSH VOYAGE’. With the anime opening playing on the big screen in the background, a huge inflatable airplane appeared on stage and took to the air. With the audience completely entranced by the show, the 7 members formed a circle and pointed high into the sky and the show came to an end.
The audience’s excitement saw no signs of fading and the calls of an encore did not die down. IDOLiSH7 then reappeared on the stage and performed ‘THANK YOU FOR YOUR EVERYTHING. The group then called TRIGGER on to the stage and they performed ‘NATSU Shiyou ze’ as IDOLiSH7 feat. TRIGGER. Partway through the song, Re:vale came on to the stage and joined in, and all 12 members got into trolleys and moved through the audience. Back on stage, the guys expressed their gratitude to all the fans and the fans returned by waving their penlights and cheering at the performance. It was here that some amazing news was announced! The songs from Part 1 and 2 of the game would be collected into a special 2-disc album with the title Idolish7 Collection Album vol.1. It was also here that a second season of the anime adaptation was announced! With everybody both on and off the stage extremely excited, the members of the three groups expressed their deepest thanks to the audience members both in the arena and watching at the live viewings across Japan. They then finished by performing the song ‘Welcome, Future World!’ as Re:vale & TRIGGER & IDOLiSH7. After 29 songs including the encore, the curtain closed on an amazing first concert from Idolish7.

Idolish7 really is a work which let me experience a lot of firsts. It allowed me to play an idol and stand on a stage like this for the first time. I was doing my best and thought I would be able to add one more first, so I played Sakura Message on the piano here. I was really nervous [laugh]. We will be getting a second season of the anime, so I want to bring you all back to the stage again.
Thank you to everybody who came here and to all of you watching at the live viewings! I think everybody already said how I feel, so just let me say one thing. [In Nagi’s voice] ‘Are you happy?’ I want to cram all this feelings into the second season of the anime and the next parts of the game!
We started the game and the anime, and as IDOLiSH7 we have earnestly and honestly marched forward. The title of today’s concert was ‘Road to Infinity’. In front of the members of the group like infinite possibilities and the road will continue forever. It is the audience here today, the audience at the live viewings and everybody who has come to love Idolish7 who have walked down this road with us! Thank you so much. IDOLiSH7 has really only just begun, and the real start is from here. While believing in these infinite possibilities, I want to charge forward just like they would.
