Fall 2017 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
The MANGA.TOKYO staff had its share of summer. Now, all we wish is for the hot and humid weather to go away and give its place to the red and cool autumn.
With games, anime, novels, and comics, the Fate series has developed over various media. Before the broadcast of the Fate/Apocrypha TV anime series, there was a screening of Episodes 1-2 and a talk show by the cast on Friday 30 June at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo.
The newest work in the extremely popular Fate series differs from previous works such as Fate/stay night and Fate/Zero in that it takes place in a different ‘Fate’ world. In contrast to the Holy Grail War that has been taking place up until now, in which seven magicians and seven spirits of war fight against each other, the war this time is between servants. The story is set in Trifas, Romania.
According to the cast, the highlight of the anime is the intensity stemming from the fact that there are double the number of servants. At the same time, even though there are 14 cast members, they have delved down into each of the characters so it will be interesting no matter which character you like.
After the screening of the episodes, Natsuki Hanae (Sieg), Maaya Sakamoto (Ruler), Kouki Uchiyama (Shirou Kotomine), Makoto Furukawa (Rider of Red), Junichi Suwabe (Saber of Black), Rumi Okubo (Rider of Black), Chinatsu Akasaki (Fiore Forvedge Yggdmillenia), and Yusuke Kobayashi (Caules Forvedge Yggdmillenia) took to the stage and Tatsuyuki Kobayashi, who is a fan of the Fate series and makes an appearance in the anime, carried out the duties of the MC.
First, the cast introduced their characters and themselves. The names and jargon use a lot of katakana (a Japanese script which is used for words originating from other languages) which was enough to make the voice actors cry. When Akasaki and Yusuke Kobayashi introduced their characters using a shortened version of their names, Suwabe made a witty remark and they both redid their introductions with their characters’ long and difficult full names. Both of them were able to say the names without fumbling and drew applause from the audience and from the guests onstage. From there, the event moved into the talk section.
Since both Okubo and the MC Tatsuyuki Kobayashi like the Fate series, there were many instances where their love for the series was overflowing. It was announced that Okubo, who is the most knowledgeable of the Fate series out of all the cast members, will be in charge of the next trailer scheduled to be distributed online. It is full of content that fans of the Fate series have been waiting for.
Also, in response to the question ‘Which character do you like besides your own?’ Sakamoto and Yusuke Kobayashi both said ‘Berserker of Black’ and the stage got very excited as if a great war had broken out. Questions from fans were also gathered via Twitter. A fan tweeted, ‘If you were designated as a servant, what class do you think you would fall into?’ The cast members all showed their love for Fate while self-analyzing and saying which class they would like to be in.
In addition, the trailer at the end of the event received the most enthusiasm. It was announced that the anime will have 25 episodes and will run over 2 cours. The audience and the guests (especially MC Kobayashi) got excited that we won’t have to wait between seasons and the cast once again gave their comments and introduced the highlights. In any case, it is a new series that is fast-paced and exciting from the start. The cast members closed the event by sending passionate messages to the fans.
The system of the Holy Grail War has changed and it is now a 7 vs 7 war between servants. A war of unprecedented magnitude will unfold in Turifas, Romania. This summer, watch the Holy Grail War until the end!
