Voice actress Ayana Taketatsu held an exclusive concert called ‘Ayana Taketatsu LIVE 2016-2017 Lyrical Concerto’ at Tokyo Nakano Sunplaza Hall on January 15, 2017. This concert was her first for 2017 and it was titled after her third album, ‘Lyrical Concerto’ that was released in 2016.
The opening image was based on the novel Alice in Wonderland and the stage was beautifully decorated with card-based items such as hearts, clubs, diamonds, and spades with a castle in the background, all projecting Ayana Taketatsu’s super cute world.
The first song that kicked off the show was SWEETS is CIRCUS. The moment the venue’s glow sticks all turned pink, Taketatsu made her appearance among the fan’s deafening roar. For the next song, Alice in ♪ Land, she showed up in an Alice-themed costume with a blue dress and a white apron.
Being her very first concert in 2017, she shared with fans how she spent her holidays. She spent the New Year’s break with her mother who made her zoni (a traditional Japanese soup served in New Year’s Eve) despite being terrible at cooking. As it turned out, the zoni was covered with too much Japanese radish and mitsuba, completely hiding the rice cake underneath.
* Although zoni can differ dramatically from location to location, the zoni made by Taketatsu’s mom was obviously an ‘abnormal incident’ and this anecdote was a great example that clearly explained how horrible her mom is at cooking.
The third song, Little*Lion*Heart, was an aggressive rock number that broke her trademark cute image. The audience was fascinated by this new interesting side to Taketatsu, and she made sure to reflect on this new aspect of hers, ‘Well, I actually asked the company to include a cool song in my third album. However, I never expected it to be such a difficult tune to sing. Even so, I’d like to continue singing the song with all my heart. It’s already been 5 years since I debuted in 2012. Although I actually never imagined I could get this far, I’m truly glad I carried on. From now on, I’d love to show you this ‘New Ayachi!’
She then sang the song Tsubasa by Yui Horie. The song is a particularly memorable one for her as it gave her a supportive push when she made the decision to head down the path of becoming a voice actress. During her performance, she choked up with overflowing tears several times, but kept on singing while cherishing each of the words written in the song. The audience was touched by her wonderful performance.
Near the end of the event, she performed several upbeat tunes including Hey! calorie Queen and Lucky Tune♪. She concluded the show with the song Happy Future, a metaphor for the direction we all want the New Year to take.
However, the event didn’t end there. In response to the restless, enthusiastic ‘Ayachi Call’, Takatatsu came to the stage for the encore, an extra 3 songs: Half-Bitten Apple, Candy Love, and Rice to Meet You. The audience sang in chorus during the catchy phrases, ‘I love beef!’, ‘I love pork!’, and ‘Rock’n sirloin!’
Taketatsu performed a total of 20 songs, the highest number of songs she has ever sung during a concert.
