‘Ayana Koukoku (Principality)’, the Ayana Taketatsu fan club which was established in April 2017, held its first members-only birthday event on Saturday 17 June 2017 at Yamano Hall in Tokyo.
The member-only event which took place in the afternoon was hosted by Hisanori Yoshida, a reporter for Nippon Broadcasting Systems. Ayana Taketatsu appeared wearing a pure white dress and said, ‘I am Ayana Taketatsu, the princess of Ayana Principality!’ inciting cheers from the audience. By the way, it seems that in terms of fan club membership numbers, her mother is #1, her father is #2 and she is #29 (29 can be read as ‘niku’ which means meat in Japanese).
Since it was an announcement party, many plans overflowing with variety took place.
‘The First Ayana Principality Meeting’ was a corner about deciding rules because nothing besides the fact that ‘ham flourishes in the country’ had been decided.
The first topic was the national flag. Candidates for the flag’s design included ‘a cute heart shape’, ‘Choco-chan’ (pet dog), raw meat (particularly misuji), boobs (on the big side) and the princess suggested ‘meat’, ‘AωA’ ‘Public/Ham’ (The kanji for public, 公, when broken down can look like the word ham, ハム, in Japanese.) Despite continuous suggestions, she said she wants to properly reflect the opinions of the people and so deliberation was continued.
Next up was ‘laws’. The new rules will be decided by the princess who will choose from suggestions submitted by the people beforehand. The rule ‘Your smartphone’s wallpaper must be a picture of the princess!’ was passed because there is a members-only wallpaper available through the fan club. However, the rule ‘You must tweet “Boobs” at least once a day was surprisingly not passed. She gave the following reason, ‘I want to make it a country that is pretty only from the outside and easy for tired travelers to enter’, inciting applause form the audience.
In the ‘Inspection! The Real Princess Ayana!’ corner, video comments from people close to the princess were played to answer the question of whether the Ayana acted like a princess on a day-to-day basis. A certain composer said, ‘She said “This is some good beef” about the katsudon (fried pork cutlet bowl) she was eating and she thought that mori soba (chilled soba noodles) was oomori soba (a large serving of soba noodles)’ making Taketatsu cringe in embarrassment.
Then came the game ‘Do you know what katsu tastes like?’ She had to guess katsudon, chicken katsu, menchi-katsu, fried mackerel, and big katsu (a cheap snack) while blindfolded. She got all correct and maintained her dignity.
‘Let’s listen to the voice of the people!’ is a corner in which desires and messages from the fans that were collected through a questionnaire beforehand were conveyed by Ayana to the fans. One of the requests was, ‘Please say the line “Onii-chan, please work hard from now on, too.” as if you were a 17-year-old little sister.’ Ayana pulled it off brilliantly causing the audience to erupt into cheering.
As the princess returned to the castle to prepare for the concert section of the event, the corner entitled, ‘Princess Ayana Ultra Latest Status Report’, took place. It was done in a Q&A format:
Q. ‘What is the most recent delicious thing you have eaten?’
A. ‘McDonalds large size french fries.’
Q. ‘What news has interested you lately?’
A. ‘The difference between high school girls now and 10 years ago.’
After the status report came the concert section! The principality’s musical corps gathered together and played ‘Lucky tune’ and ‘Kajirikake no Ringo’ with Ayana wearing a yellow T-shirt that was specially made in commemoration of the fifth anniversary event and a blue skirt. When she sang ‘Mirror Mirror’, her first try at songwriting, she said ‘I feel kind of hungry so when you’ve finished listening to this song, I want you to feel like eating cheap snacks.’ She then sang ‘Hey! Calorie Queen’ while swinging around a walking stick. She ran through the crowd while waving her hands and left the stage behind.
Answering to the calls for an encore, she once again took to the stage but this time with a huge announcement! The production of an album of her best songs was announced, as well as that the songs of the album will be chosen through votes and the results announced on Sunday 20 August 2017 via a live broadcast on Nico Nico. Also, fans can look forward to her appearance on the TV show ‘Gyouretsu no Dekiru Horitsu Sodanjo’ on Sunday 25 June 2017.
Finally, after singing ‘CANDY LOVE’, she took a commemorative photo with the audience in the background. She also saw the fans out in the lobby, bringing the first fan club event to an end.
The birthday event took place at night and Hisanori Yoshida continued as MC. Taketatsu appear wearing a beige dress and a white hat. One of the band members, Shuntaro Kobayashi, played ‘Happy Birthday’ as the all-too-familiar ‘meat cake’ was brought onstage. She celebrated her birthday together with her fans with the ‘meat tower’ which was made of roast beef and cherry tomatoes.
In the corner, ‘Ayana Taketatsu’s First 〇〇’, she introduced videos in which she attempted things she had wanted to experience. The first thing she wanted to do was play with an owl. The video showed her in an owl cafe petting their heads and putting them on her arms and shoulders and enjoying communicating with them. The second was making a big bowl so that she can eat delicious white rice dramatically. That’s why she attended a pottery class. The finished product was displayed at the event but Taketatsu regretfully commented, ‘It ended up being smaller than Choco-chan’s bowl…’ However, when a jar of freshly cooked rice was brought out, she stuffed her cheeks with sparkling eyes on her face.
Next up was the, ’28-year-old Ayana Taketatsu I’m not bad at cooking anymore!’ corner. At the event, two years ago, she also attempted cooking but this time she tried to see if she had gotten any better by challenging grilled pork with ginger. This time, she appointed the band’s guitarist Shinya Kogure, to do the taste test. When she asked his opinion, he said, ‘The taste of the ginger was a little weak but it was very good’, giving her a passing grade. Taketatsu also seemed pleased.
The corner called, ‘Congratulations from that person’, there was a video message from a voice actor close to Taketatsu, Rina Hidaka, ’When I started Twitter, Ayana warmly gave me advice.’ Manami Numakura said, ‘She is gutsy but she blushes when she is called Ayana and that is cute.’ Aoi Yuki said, ‘Please continue to be my loving and cheerful older sister.’
While the band were getting ready to perform live, Taketatsu was given some topics and had to draw a picture for each in just 10 seconds. ‘Napolitan’, ‘hydrangea’, and ‘Sazae-san’ were some of the topics given and her loving fans guessed them correctly one after the other.
Finally, the concert began. Taketatsu, dressed in a red outfit this time, sang ‘Lucky Tune’, for the first time in a while, and ‘G.I.W’, expressing the energy she had when she said ‘I want to give everything I have at every concert!’ Then, for the first time in a long time, she sang ‘Rhythm to Melody no Tame no Ballad’, the last song on her first album. ‘Please listen as if you were hungry!’ With this she sang ‘Hey! Calorie Queen’ and after singing ‘Happy Future’ there was a round of applause from the audience and she left the stage.
After taking to stage once more for an encore, she sang ‘Rice to Meat You’ using the entire stage. After taking a commemorative photo with the audience in the background, the event that was full of surprises ended.
