The premiere stage greeting of Ajin – Shougeki –, the third movie of the trilogy created using Gamon Sakurai’s work, was held at Cinema Mediage in Odaiba, Tokyo on September 23.
Mamoru Miyano (Kei Nagai), Hochuu Ootsuka (Sato), Daisuke Hirakawa (Kouji Tanaka), General Director Hiroyuki Seshita and Director Hiroaki Ando appeared on the stage. The host was Thank You Tatsuo.
Hochuu Ootsuka, one of Japan’s representative voice actors, appeared on the stage for the very first time. Miyano even commented that it’s such a historic moment and asked the fans for their sympathy.
Hochuu was concerned if everyday life would become too boring since Sato’s character was so stimulating and as Hochuu acted Sato for a long time, he started to think like him. He concluded his comments saying ‘Is this enough?’, a comment that excited the fans.
General Director Hiroyuki Seshita commented on the work ‘It was uniquely developed so I put a lot of effort into it. In the movie I tried to deliver the message that Sato cannot be beaten by the force of one person.’ He said that he put extra effort to make the group-play easy to understand by expressing the relationship between the characters in contrast.
Their relationships are mirrored: Kei and Kaito against Sato and Tanaka, and Tozaki and Izumi against Almeida and Myers.
Director Hiroaki Ando also commented that Tanaka gets a hint from Kaito’s actions so each action is a small tip. For those who have already seen the movie, it might be good to go watch the movie again taking their comments into account.
At the end of the event, Miyano said that ‘I’m very happy to be able to show the work which I put everything on, and furthermore, being able to work with Hochuu is just priceless to me. I hope you all enjoy this “Ajin” world.’
