Summer 2019 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
Summer is near, my dear friends, and our tablets and phones will need some extra space for all the amazing anime that are coming our way.
In March 2018, the anime series A.I.C.O. Incarnation became available to watch worldwide on Netflix. Although quite some time has passed since the series’ premiere, a special two-part screening took place at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo. The first screening was of the first six episodes and took place on 13 January 2019.
A.I.C.O. Incarnation is set in Japan in the year 2037. An artificial organism called Malignant Matter has gone out of control and is now posing a giant threat to mankind. The leading character is Aiko Tachibana, who has lost her family in the accident with the Malignant Matter and has been seriously injured. One day she is informed that she may have caused the accident and that her mother and younger brother might still be alive. To save her family, she joins forces with Yuya and the guards called Divers as they head towards the Primary Point, which was the center of the Burst.
The premiere was attended by some of the cast members, including Haruka Shiraishi (voice of Aiko), Yusuke Kobayashi (voice of Yuya), Kaori Nazuka (voice of Haruka Seri), and MAO (voice of Kaede Misawa). Director Kazuya Murata attended the event as well. They talked about behind-the-scenes stories, what to look forward to in the series, and about their respective characters. Since the dubbing wrapped up two years ago, the host asked with worry if they still remembered how the work on the series was, which lead the cast and director to bring one story after another. The director also mentioned that the idea for this series formed 15 years ago.
Shiraishi recalled that she felt a lot of pressure to voice the heroine of a character that the director had been carefully creating for many years. She also wanted to voice Aiko in a charming way. Kobayashi mentioned that the recording was difficult as there were many technical terms. He also mentioned that the intonation of these words was unique.
MAOs character was close to her own age, so she recorded while thinking about what she would do in this kind of situation and had a lot of fun. Nazuka mentioned that it was fun to receive direction on the technical terms and revealed that she performed her role as Haruka with ‘love’ for her partner, Kaede.
At the end of the event Kobayashi prepared the crowd for the screening on 20 January 2019, which would show the second half of the series. He did some simple call-and-response games. He started with: ‘Let’s get started!’ and the A.I.C.O fans answered with ‘Willco~!’, which simply means they will follow his lead and respond to his calls.
After an overwhelming response to his calls, the event ended with a warm and happy atmosphere.
