‘Let’s talk about sex baby~’
A little while ago, I wrote up a list of five BL titles that took a realistic look at the romantic relationships between men. This time, I’m doing a complete 180 turn with this list of 5 steamy BL titles! We all have them, those guilty pleasures that we wouldn’t be caught dead reading out in public… You know what I’m talking about; those tantalizingly delicious stories that would make even the most seasoned fujoshi blush!
No flowers or chocolates here. These BL titles get down and dirty with some serious nosebleed-worthy content! So, make sure you have plenty of water, it’s about to get a little hot in here!!
Finder series (2002)
Art & Story: Yamane Ayano
Kicking off this list is my number-one guilty pleasure, Yamane Ayano’s Finder series! Gay gangsters, shady business deals, and hot kinky sex! The series follows Akihito Takaba, a 23-year-old freelance photographer looking to make a name for himself by getting the next big scoop. While out on assignment, Akihito snaps a picture of crime lord Ryuichi Asami in the middle of a shady ‘business deal’. To protect himself, Asami kidnaps Akihito in order to teach him a valuable lesson against snooping. Of course, fate has other plans for the pair, and they find themselves continually drawn to one another in a twisted cat and mouse game.
This series has been plagued by delays and hiatuses throughout its long run, but Yamane Ayano’s brilliant storytelling and steamy smut always keep readers coming back for more. Finder is one of her darker series, delving into the twisted liaison between the two male leads. Οften times Akihito finds himself the unwittingly crossing paths with Asami, who seems to have taken a bit of an interest in the plucky photographer. There is some non-con early on (usually from Asami), which some folks might not be comfortable with, but as the series progresses and Akihito’s feelings for Asami change, the relationship becomes much more consensual… granted, Asami is into some super kinky stuff. Expect some BDSM, toys, and a bit of outdoor sex!
Twittering Birds Never Fly (2007)
Art & Story: Kou Yoneda
I wrote a review of the first volume of Twittering Birds Never Fly a little while ago and I quickly fell in love with it! The series follows the relationship between a sex-addicted and masochistic yakuza boss, Yashiro, and his stoic ex-cop bodyguard, Doumeki. Kou Yoneda masterfully weaves a tale of two depraved souls who find solace in one another amidst the cutthroat world of the Japanese yakuza.
Twittering Birds is one of those series that draws you in with its unique premise, well developed, albeit, flawed characters, and emotionally charged sex scenes. Yashiro is a sex addict that likes to be dominated by men, so prepare your heart for quite a few hardcore sex scenes, especially a few involving Yashiro with multiple men. By comparison, the sex scenes with Doumeki are much more tame by comparison, focusing more on the emotional intimacy between the two men rather than the physical acts themselves… But, seriously, some of the stuff Yashiro gets into will make even the most hardened fujoshi blush.

Art & Story: Scarlet Beriko
After his older sister borrows his sweatpants, high schooler Hara Keisuke accidentally puts on a pair of pantyhose she left behind while getting changed for gym class. Embarrassed and unable to discreetly remove them, his best friend notices his dilemma and swoops in and whisks him off to the infirmary so he can take them off without drawing attention to himself. But, once they get there and Shinoda sees the black pantyhose, his personality changes completely…
Pantyhose kink. Jackass is on this list solely for Shinoda’s pantyhose kink, because, oh my word, it is hot! Each scene that depicts Shinoda’s body worship of Hara’s pantyhose clad legs is nosebleed inducing…. It’s just so damn sensual, even without any of the steamy butt sex.
The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese & The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice (2009)
Art & Story: Mizushiro Setona
Serial adulterer, Kyouichi, finds himself in a sticky situation when his wife hires a private investigator to uncover his cheating ways. To make matters worse, the PI happens to be Imagase, a college classmate of his. Imagase promises to keep his affairs a secret from his wife, but only if Kyouichi gives his body to him… Two for one special with this one, since The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice is a direct sequel to The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese.
Imagase is an openly gay man who has been pining over his senpai, Kyouichi, since their college days. Unfortunately for him, Kyouichi is straight, so he figured his love would forever be one-sided… that is until such a delicious opportunity presented itself. The story goes pretty much how you’d expect. Imagase is constantly trying to sway Kyouichi ‘to the ga’” with sexual favors and a lot of steamy butt sex, and Kyouichi is denying that he enjoys or even accepts Imagase’s tender love and care. But, the sexual chemistry between the two leads is there and oh my gosh, it is HOT! Most of the time, it’s Imagase doing whatever he wants, but when Kyouichi starts getting into it, he becomes a beast!!
Ten Count (2013)
Art & Story: Takarai Rihito
Ten Count follows mysophobic secretary, Shirotani Takadaomi, and his counselor, Kurose Riku, as they attempt to cure the former of his compulsive disorder with the help of a ten-step program. As the pair work their way through the steps, their feelings for one another morph into something that is far removed from the normal physician-client relationship.
While a good deal of the plot focuses on Shirotani and his mysophobia, there are quite a few steamy scenes between Shirotani and Kurose. At first, they start out with small, sensual looks and touches, but as Shirotani becomes more comfortable with Kurose and his touch, the intimate scenes take a noticeable upswing…. And it gets HOT! Kurose pushes Shirotani to his limits and the results speak for themselves!
