Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki (based on a manga by Masaki Ando) has announced its cast members!
The series is scheduled to start airing in April 2019. The protagonist of the series, Monaka Yatogame, will be voiced by Aichi prefecture native Haruka Tomatsu. Gifu’s Mai Tadakusa will be voiced by Gifu prefecture native Yuki Wakai, and Mie’s Yanna Sasatsu will be voiced by Mie prefecture native Mikako Komatsu. The three voice actresses have left comments which you can find them fully translated at the end of this article.

The manga this series is based on is currently being serialized in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Rex. It’s a four-panel manga and follows the life of Yatogame, a girl with a very blunt Nagoya dialect. It will introduce the culture from Nagoya to the rest of Japan (and the world) and will have people from Nagoya relate to the things happening in the story.

This time when I went to the audition for Mai-chan I really wanted to be cast as her, no matter what, since she is also from Gifu which I love so much, so when they decided to cast me I was so happy! I will have a lot of fun while voicing Tadakusa-chan and I will record her lines with all my love so that everybody will understand the greatness and fun of the area.

I left Mie when I was 16, so I have nearly spent half my life in Tokyo already. This series makes me feel nostalgic and awakens lots of memories. As a representative of Mie prefecture I am honored to be cast as Yanna Sasatsu! Everybody if you ever pass by Tsu Station, look at the station sign! It looks like a ‘?’ from far away! Please try to find it!
