One of the anime movies that created the biggest buzz in Japanese last year was Mary and the Witch’s Flower (Mary to Majo no Hana). The first movie from Studio Ponoc, this delightful tale is based on the British book The Little Broomstick by Mary Stewart and is directed by the Oscar-nominated Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who is most known for his Studio Ghibli works The Secret World of Arrietty and When Marnie was There.
This wonderful adventure story stars a strong young girl named Mary, who discovers a flower that grants magical powers. However, the catch is that the powers last only for one night…
After a highly successful screening in the US last month, GKIDS and Fathom events are bringing the movie to US screens for two nights only!
24 February will see a screening of the English Dubbed version of the movie, starring a charming British cast including Ruby Barnhill, Kate Winslet, and Jim Broadbent.
26 February will see a screening of the original Japanese audio with English-language subtitles!
