The so-called ‘reverse 2.5 dimensional’ stageplay Sabiiro no Armor (Rusted Armor) will raise its curtains on 8 June 2017 at AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo. The visuals for Taiki Sato’s character Magoichi, and Yoshiki Masuda’s character Oda Nobunaga have been revealed.
In recent years, theater adaptations of anime, manga or games are booming. This play, however, is different, because it is starting out as a stage play and plans on spreading into other media after that. That’s why it is called ‘reverse 2.5 dimensional’, since it is flowing in the opposite direction to normal 2.5D projects. 2.5D is in between the ‘2D’ of media such as games, anime, and manga and the ‘3D’ of real-life. Most often, 2.5D refers to stage plays based on popular 2D media.
Taiki Sato is a member of EXILE and FANTASTICS, and is known for being a good dancer. Toshiki Masuda has worked on many popular anime as a voice actor, like Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL and KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm and has a lot of experience with stage plays. Both are very active in their respective fields, and were able to produce impressive visuals that causes one to imagine how the project will progress.
For this stage there are two main characters: Magoichi, played by Taiki Sato, who wears the key item – armor – and seems to have a knack for guns. The second main character is Oda Nobunaga portrayed by Toshiki Masuda, who wears a bright costume and eyes the future with a sharp look.
The additional cast has also been announced. Many young actors have come together for this stage play, including Kentaro Araki, Takato Nagata, Yuichi Hirata, Shouhei, Yuuki Kamisato, Tsubasa Sakiyama, Rakuto Tochihara, Hidekazu Ichinose, and Teruma.
The stage show for Sabiiro no Armor will start from 8 June 2017, 18:00 at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo and it will also be performed at the Morinomiya Piloti Hall in Osaka from 22 – 25 June 2017. Ticket sales will start from 30 April 2017, 10:00 at a price of 8500 yen (including tax).
