Production I.G has revealed the first visual for the latest anime adaptation of Legend of Galactic Heroes, which is based on the series of science fiction novels by Yoshiki Tanaka. The visual is connected to the story of the first volume, Dawn.
Dawn was first released in 1982 and the series has since sold more than 15 million copies. It is a legendary work with 110 OVA episodes, 52 side story episodes and three movies developed since 1988. It is considered a classic among new and old science fiction fans.
An event entitled Encounter of the Stars will be held in September. The staff and cast involved with the old production will come together to hold a talk segment: original author Yoshiki Tanaka, director Noboru Ishiguro, Ryo Horikawa (voice of Reinhard), Masashi Hironaka (Kircheis) and Nozomu Sasaki (Julian). Voice actors from the new project will also make an appearance, including the voices of Reinhard, Kircheis, and Yang, whose cast members will be announced at the event. Information on the staff of the remake and a teaser video are also scheduled to be introduced at the event.
’Legend of the Galactic Heroes’ Synopsis
A thousand years in the future, people went to live in outer space and formed two countries, the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance. The war between those two fractions has been going on for 150 years now, without an end seeming close, since the galaxy is endless and the fights always start anew. But history will move on thanks to two geniuses. Reinhard von Lohengramm, the ‘war genius’ and Yang Wenli, the ‘black haired magician.’ The two lead the armies of both countries and will bump into each other many times.
