The light novel Violet Evergarden will get an anime adaptation produced by Kyoto Animation in January 2018 and the title just revealed its first trailer! It has also been announced that the anime will air simultaneously worldwide.
The director of the movie will be Taichi Ishidate (Beyond the Boundary Movie: I’ll Be There). The series compositor will be Reiko Yoshida of A Silent Voice (Koe no Katachi) and the characters are designed by Akiko Takase, who also did the illustrations for the light novel. The first cast member has been revealed to be Yui Ishikawa, who will voice the heroine and is known for voicing Mikasa in Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). The opening theme will be sung by TRUE.
The first trailer has been released together with the official website and Twitter page. The first anime visual has also been revealed. Prior to the broadcast, a premiere screening will be held in Japan and three other countries. First up we have Anime Expo in Los Angeles on 2 July 2017. In Japan, the first two episodes will be shown on 21 October 2017, during the event with the impressive title: Dai 3 Kai KyoAni & DoFan Kansha Event Watashi-tachi wa, ima!! – 2-nen buri no Omatsuri desu – Hibike! Kyouto kara Sekai e hen.
Violet Evergarden is originally written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. There have been two volumes published so far. In May 2016 the first commercial for the anime was released on YouTube, which has racked up 1.87 million views worldwide!
It’s been a long time since the Auto Memories Doll was born.
Dr. Orlando invented this machine for his blind wife Molly, who worked as a novelist, so that she could write even though she couldn’t see. The machine looked like a small and cute doll. And because it was built because of his thoughts and wishes for his wife, he called it Auto Memories Doll.
In the end, the Auto Memories Doll became popular and helped many people. It is now refers to the women who work to write for those who can’t do it anymore or express feelings on behalf of others to someone.
This is the story of one of the Auto Memories Dolls, Violet Evergarden, who lives in times of change and connects people’s hearts.
The novel was the first ever Grand Prize winner at the fifth Kyoto Animation Awards.

Violet Evergarden, who was formerly called a ‘weapon’, leaves the battlefield and is about to begin a new life with the CH Postal Service. There she hears for the first time of Auto Memories Dolls, which moves her heart. She starts working as one and gets to meet many people and various emotions. All the while, she’s in search of the meaning of those words.
