Winter 2019 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
2018 is almost out, guys and girls, and that means that another anime year is ready to take its place.
It has been announced that TV anime series Nanamaru Sanbatsu will be produced by TMS Entertainment. The anime is based on the manga with the same name written by Iqura Sugimoto, and features a high school club for quiz competitions. The title refers to a rule of the quiz game: you win if you get seven correct answers (nana maru) and lose if you get 3 incorrect (san batsu). The series will start airing from July during the Summer 2017 season.
Rookie voice actor Shun Horie will voice the main character, Shiki Koshiyama, an old-fashioned bookworm who is enthusiastic about gaining knowledge. The heroine, Mari Fukami, is a devoted quiz fan who spends most her time playing competitive quizzes. Apart from her quiz knowledge, she is quite clumsy. She will be played by actress Umika Kawashima, who has played roles in many dramas and TV commercials and will be taking on her first role as a voice actress for a TV anime series.
The voice actors for Gakuto Sasajima, the chairman of the quiz study club to which Shiki Koshiyama and Mari Fukami belong, and Chisato Mikuriya, the mysterious rival at Miyaura High School, will be announced in March at ‘Nanamaru Sanbatsu Who Could be the Cast – Video Quiz’ via their official Twitter.
‘This is Shun Horie here and I’ll be voicing Shiki Koshiyama in the anime. I’m new to the competitive quiz field, so this is quite thrilling. I want to deliver the passion that I felt when I read the manga before my audition. It’s not all about having the knowledge to answer questions correctly to win a quiz competition. I’ll do my best to convey how captivating competitive quizzes are.’
‘Although the anime features a high school quiz club, to be honest I’m not that good at quizzes. However, I will desperately try to answer the questions in the anime! I want to bring out the dedication and struggles of the high school students as they compete in competitive quizzes. Please cheer for them. Although I’m not an experienced voice actress, I’m going to enjoy playing Mari.’

It’s the day of the welcoming event for new students at Buzou High School. First-year student Shiki Koshiyama unwillingly joined the ‘New Students Fastest Finger First Quiz Competition’. While Shiki, a bookworm who doesn’t want to stand out, is panicking, Mari Fukami from the same class knocks off the other competitors by consistently answering questions before they even finish reading them out. She states, ‘It’s far too late to answer a question when you’ve got its answer. The difference of 0.01 seconds will decide whether its victory or defeat.’ Shiki gradually realizes that there is a certain point that nails down a right answer while watching Mari at the competition.
The friendship and conflicts with fellow students in the quiz club, the encounter with his formidable rival who has an overwhelming ability for competitive quizzing, the joy of answering correctly, the regretful feeling from being unable to buzz; Shiki Koshiyama has started his challenge to win competitive quizzes with his fellow students by not only building up knowledge, but also learning various techniques of competitive quizzing.
