A TV anime for the mixed-media project Konbini Kareshi (lit. Convenience Store Boyfriend) has been announced for July 2017 on TBS and BS-TBS. The production has created an official website and released the first teaser visual and staff info!
Konbini Kareshi is a popular franchise from B’s Log, a magazine that focuses on games aimed at women. So far, the franchise has released a ‘mook’ (a cross between a magazine and a book) that included a drama CD. Taking place in a convenience store, this love story revolves around 6 different high school boys. It carefully depicts the feelings each of them has towards the reader- right up to their love confession.
The teaser visual features all of the main characters and depicts the freshness of youth with its blue theme. The anime’s cast has yet to be announced, but the drama CD only featured cast members that are very popular with women: Takuya Terashima, Kenichi Suzumura, Shinnosuke Tachibana, Yuki Kaji, Hiroshi Kamiya, and Takehiro Sakurai. We will have to keep an eye out to see if the anime will have the same cast.
The original character designer is Makoto Senzaki. The director will be Hayato Date, who has many years of experience directing the Naruto anime adaptations. The series composition will be headed by Starmyu’s Sayaka Harada, and the character designer will be Tomomi Ishikawa, who also worked as the animation director of the Persona3 The Movie series. The animation will be produced by Studio Pierrot, known for Osomatsu-san and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Sagakebu’s Studio Pierrot Plus will take part in the production cooperation.
We can expect much more than just a drama CD. More information will be released on the official website and Twitter account.
