Winter 2019 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
2018 is almost out, guys and girls, and that means that another anime year is ready to take its place.
Some new information has been announced for the upcoming ‘buddy series’ anime Double Decker! Doug and Kirill, which is part of a new animation project born from the hugely popular superhero anime Tiger & Bunny. The anime will air this autumn and has revealed the cast of two new ‘buddy cop duos’. Our first new duo will be played by Saori Hayami and Chika Anzai. The second duo will be played by Yoh Taichi and Atsumi Tanezaki.
This new project reunites the staff from Tiger & Bunny, such as character designer Masakazu Katsura, and is being produced by Sunrise. Double Decker is part of the ‘new animation project’ for Tiger & Bunny and will depict the ‘worst yet best detective buddies’. The eponymous characters are the hazy and disappointing veteran Doug and enthusiastic and disappointing rookie Kirill.
Information on two new detective duos has also been announced. Saori Hayami will be playing Dina Del Rio. She describes her character as being sloppy when it comes to appearance but exceptionally passionate and sharp-minded. Dina’s buddy will be played by Chika Anzai and is called Katherine ‘Kay’ Rochefort. According to Anzai, Kay is straightforward, naive, and always tries her best. Yoh Taichi will be playing Maxine ‘Max’ Silverstone, who has a cool, androgynous look. Max’s buddy is the motherly Yuri Fujishiro, who may seem quite reserved but watches over everybody with a smile.
Double Decker! Doug & Kirill airs from Fall 2018. A preview screening of the first two episodes will be held along with a cast talk on 2 September 2018 as part of Sunrise Festival 2018 in Shinjuku.
