Winter 2018 is finally here! MANGA.TOKYO is going to do weekly reviews for 13 titles this season but with more than 50 new titles coming to our screens, we want our readers to have a first look at all new anime. Since we can’t review every single title, every season we have our staff and writers see all first episodes and bring you their initial thoughts. This way, you can make sure that your precious anime time is only spent on those titles that will give you the most. Don’t worry, we will try to keep these impressions as spoiler-free as possible.
Check our first impressions out in our preview article:
But as always, we have another anime news recap for you. Here are the anime and otaku news that had the most page views this last week, 6-11 January 2017!
Which articles really piqued your interest?
Beatless will air its first episode tomorrow, 13 January, and to keep the hype going it revealed a second trailer and plans for a themed cafe. Now the real question is: when are fans going to get themed cafes outside Japan?
Kids on the Slope (Sakamichi no Apollon) is one of my favorite music anime dramas. A mix of slice-of-life before the internet and music exploration, its jazz atmosphere will be adapted into a live-action movie.
Amazing news for Amazon Prime members who wanted to watch Amazon’s anime but thought that the extra paywall was not worth it. Anime Strike is no more and the entire anime catalog is available to all Prime members.
Are you eager to see Miyazaki’s latest anime work? It’s not a full feature film but an anime short about a small caterpillar named Boro. If you don’t want to wait for a commercial release (if there is going to be one) you’ll have to travel all the way to the Ghibli Museum this March.
Enough with the classic romance stories about normal people who do regular things. We want to know how otakus form relationships and Otaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (lit. Love is Hard for Otaku) is just about that. Learn more about the second couple of the series.
Tanya is coming back for a new anime movie. Are you excited? I am excited. So excited. I don’t usually like isekai anime but the charm of the protagonist of Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil was enough to keep me on the series. I was secretly hoping for a new season… Is it too late to hope?
YES! Excuse my excitement but the protagonist of Kakegurui is the closest I’ve ever been to have a waifu. And judging by the views on this article, our readers are also looking forward to the second season. LET’S GAMBLE.
