Yoko Kamio’s Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango) is getting a special stage adaptation. The all-female Takarazuka Revue will take on the manga’s story. It will be performed by the Flower Troupe in Tokyo from 15 June to 2 July 2019 at the Akasaka ACT Theater.
Boys Over Flowers was serialized in Shueisha’s Margaret between 1992-2003. Tsukushi Makino is a student of Eitoku Academy, a school for the very rich and privileged, such as Tsukasa Domyoji. He is one of the richest students and part of the so-called F4 group, who are terrorizing the rest of the school. The series is a romantic comedy that has been adapted into a live action series and anime in Japan. The series has also been adapted into a live action series in other countries such as Korea and Taiwan.
Rei Yuzuka will be taking the lead role for the Takarazuka version. Kosaka Noguchi will write the script. Tickets will go on sale on 11 May 2019.
