Sanrio’s character Aggressive Retsuko will get a new original animation on Netflix. Retsuko is a female red panda working in a Japanese office and we will follow her life with all its comedy, starting Spring 2018. The anime will broadcast worldwide.
Aggressive Retsuko was born through a popularity voting in 2015. She is a red panda that works for a first class company but has to deal with a boss that ticks her off and the stupidity of her colleagues, which make her more and more dissatisfied. With this unique setting, the character has gained a lot of attention.
In December 2012, Sanrio America released an English subtitled anime of Retsuko on YouTube. It was talked about in the West and Asia and even foreign media reported about her. There were people who identified themselves with Retsuko, others who were sympathetic with the stress she had at work, and those who were surprised by the fact that she is from Sanrio, whose representative character is the cute Hello Kitty. Overseas fans especially liked her energetic side.
Since April 2016, there has been a regularly-airing short anime during the TBS program ‘Ousama no Brunch’, but it has also been decided that a short anime series of 10 15-minute episodes will be released on Netflix. From Spring 2018, fans from all around the world will be able to enjoy Aggressive Retsuko.
The staff is the same as those who work on the TV anime version. The script and directing is done by Rareko. The animation is done by Fanworks. No matter if it is Retsuko letting off steam with death metal at karaoke or the career woman Gori-Buchou and the beautiful secretary Washimi, they are all unique characters who make us look forward to this anime.
