Stage Report on ‘Hundred’ including a special appearance of D-selections with the opening song performance
AnimeJapan 2016 was held at Tokyo Big Sight. This is a stage report on the new anime ‘Hundred’ based on a light novel by Jun Misaki. Let’s find out what happened there, on the stage of Avex Pictures.
First, Yoshiaki Hasegawa as the main character Hayato Kisaragi showed up on stage. Then, 4 other voice actresses followed; Rumi Okubo as Emile Crossfode, Mayu Yoshioka as Sakura Kirishima, Kaya Okuno as Karen Kisaragi and Yuka Otubo as Reitia Saintemillion. The story rolls around the Little Garden, the academy city-ship. This place is designed to raise ‘Slayers’ who can control the weapon called Hundred to confront the ‘Savage’, an unknown life form attacking the Earth. Hundred is actually a romantic comedy with some harem factors.
The event moved onto the next phase, character introduction by voice actor/actresses. The main character Hayato Kisaragi, voiced by Hasegawa, has great potential with the highest Hundred compatibility score of all time. In addition, he has a gentle heart and cares for his sister very much.
Emile Crossfode, voiced by Okubo, is a girl who came all the way to the Little Garden to be with Hayato, but somehow disguises herself as a boy. Apparently, we’ll find out why she does that at some stage later on. Sakura Kirishima is known as a world famous singer in this anime. Yoshioka, acting as Sakura, is a member of D-selections who sings its opening theme song.
Karen Kisaragi with long black hair is the younger sister of Hayato, and she loves her brother so much that she constantly calls him on his phone. This could possibly be described as ‘Yandere’ (psychotic obsession). Reitia Saintemillion and Fritz Glanz, voiced by Wataru Hatano, are good buddies. It sounds like that she has the habit of saying ‘I’m certain that…’
After the introduction of the characters, they began ‘100 Shiritori word guessing game’ to deliver more fun facts about the anime. The actor/actresses managed to relay the game up to 97 out of 100 words, and they successfully described the anime features and highlights to the audience.
After this Shiritori game phase, the group D-selections appeared on the stage. They included Mayu Yoshioka, Tatsuyuki Kobayashi, Azuki Shibuya, Yuki Wakai and Yoshino Aoyama. D-selections covers the ‘Hundred’ opening theme song called ‘BLOODED’. The audience was really thrilled and got so excited as they sang it in blaring music up on stage.
Then, the acting cast all showed up on stage again. The event ended with some comments from D-selections and the acting casts.
