Keep warm this winter season with the latest anime info at MANGA.TOKYO!
Our friends over at the Anime!Anime! website held a survey on January 24-29, asking their readers the question: ‘Which robot anime gets you most pumped up?’
The survey was separated into two divisions: ‘Robot Anime’ and the ‘Gundam Series’. There were over 20 choices for each division, which were selected in advance based on the website readers’ suggestions on Twitter. Participants could only choose one answer.
Out of the 941 survey respondents, 60% were men and 40% women. As for age, respondents from 10 to 19 accounted for 20%, respondents in their 20s made up 40%, 20% were in their 30s, and 20% of the respondents were over 40.
It was almost neck and neck for the top 3 anime, but in the end the winner was Soukyuu no Fafner (Fafner in the Azure). It has been over a decade since the first season aired in 2004, but the story is still developing, including the up-coming series Soukyuu no Fafner THE BEYOND (Fafner in the Azure: THE BEYOND). Second place goes to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Gurren Lagann). This anime won first place last year, but has lost this year’s race by ten points. It was broadcast on TV in 2007, and this year is its 10th anniversary. And finally, third place was won by Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion). In 2016, at its 10th anniversary event, it was announced as a surprise that a new series Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection) and the anime’s compilation movies are to be released in the future. The fans can’t wait to hear for more information!
Looking at the survey results, 7 out of the top 10 anime are works that aired after the year 2000. The two anime series made in the 1990s were Yuusha-Oh GaoGaiGar (King of Braves: GaoGaiGar) which won fourth place and Shinseiki Evangelion (Neon Genesis Evangelion) which won seventh place. The only 80s anime was Top wo Nerae! (Aim for the Top GunBuster), which ranked in ninth place.
