After MECHA-UDE’s very successful Kickstarter campaign, many lesser anime projects are turning to the fans for support. Hizukuri is a short anime project that started its crowdfunding campaign at Japanese platform MotionGallery a few months ago in October. 23 days before the campaign is scheduled to end, the anime has gathered 1.150.000 JPY, 15% more than the million it initially asked for.
The anime short is the child of director Naoki Matsuura, graduate of the department of Imaging Arts and Science of Musashino Art University. and a member of Japan Animation Association. He has worked for Production I.G. and ROBOT. Three-man music group UQiYO is composing the music and the cast includes Yumi Yamamoto, Kenshirou Nakara, and Nyoko Mizuki.
The director has included his own story synopsis at the official site:
In a city of a parallel world. A boy finds a pair of broken scissors from his father’s belongings after he passed away.
And a boy’s mother tells him that his father had been a gardener in the past.
Then he figures out the scissors were made by Sasuke, who is an artisan living in a foreign country.
The boy travels all the way to a place where Sasuke lives in order to get his scissors fixed.

MotionGallery is open only to Japanese backers, but if you like the project and want to offer your support, the project has plans to open an English crowdfunding at IndieGOGO in late January, 2017.
