Fall 2018 Anime: Official Twitter Hashtags & Pages
I already miss the summer. There is something about feeling the sun on your skin and the taste of ice-cream that makes the season a favorite for many.
The classic shojo manga ‘The Rose of Versailles’ has teamed up with Japanese department store Takashimaya to bring us the chocolate fair ‘Amour du Chocolat’
We have finally entered February and we all know what that means – Valentine’s Day! In Japan, Valentine’s means girls giving chocolate to boys they like, and more recently to their friends and coworkers as well. (I personally prefers to buy chocolate for herself in the sales on the 15th!)
The classic Riyoko Ikeda manga The Rose of Versailles is teaming up with Japanese department store Takashimaya to bring us the chocolate fair Amour du Chocolate. The fair is being held at various Takashimaya stores across Japan and has invited various chocolate makers from around the world to show off their wares.
The free bright-pink catalogues for the event feature a beautiful illustration of main heroine Oscar on the cover. There is also a special manga written for the event by original author Riyoko Ikeda! The first half of the manga is written in the beautiful event catalog, and the second half is available to read on the official Takashimaya Smartphone App from Wednesday January 25 until 23:59 on Valentine’s Day!
The catalog also features photographs and information on the chocolate companies who are taking part in the event. The event halls themselves also have posters and manga panels dotted around, so you can enjoy the world of The Rose of Versailles as you enjoy looking at the chocolate!
The Nihonbashi store has also started screening a video on a huge screen in collaboration with the creative team NAKED.
Each store participating in the event also released The Rose of Versailles collaboration chocolates.

The chocolate box called The Rose of Versailles contains roses of various colors crafted by rose-shaped chocolate specialists Message de Rose. The heart-shaped box has a beautiful illustration of Oscar, André, and Marie Antoinette.
The box The Rose of Versailles Collection contains 8 different chocolates inspired by the characters of the manga and was crafted by Patissiere Etienne. Customers who buy this selection will receive a beautiful original postcard with a color illustration of Oscar.
Unfortunately, the special chocolates sold out extremely quickly. I purchased the latter box and I have to say that they weren’t just beautiful… They were extraordinarily délicieux!
It wouldn’t be a true The Rose of Versailles fair without some over-the-top statues! The Yokohama Takashimaya doesn’t disappoint us, as it is displaying life-size colorful statues of Oscar and André until Valentine’s day! To top things off, the Tamagawa Store even has a life-size statue of Oscar which is made entirely from…wait for it… chocolate!
I want her to protect me… but she might melt from the heat of my blushing cheeks…. The 178cm tall (125cm in the kneeling position) 140kg statue was designed by Patissier Etienne’s Miya Fujimoto. The statue will be on display until 6 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.
If you’ll be in Japan before Valentine’s Day, then I highly recommend you fatten yourself up on chocolate at this wonderful fair! C’est très magnifique!
It doesn’t stop there! For those of you who spend more than 5000 yen at the fair in one day at the Nihonbashi, Yokohama, Osaka, or Kyoto stores, keep hold of your receipts! The first 100,000 people will be able to gain free entry into the Ikeda Riyoko Gallery that is celebrating 50 years since her anniversary! There is more information at the bottom of the page!
There are also tonnes of thing to find on the beautiful site, including a chocolate dictionary!
