The original anime Sarazanmai by director Kunihiko Ikuhara (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Penguin Drum) has revealed a key visual! The main characters are surfing on a wave in the Sumida River which flows through Asakusa. The series will start airing in April 2019.
We know most of the characters from previous trailers and articles and now we get to meet a new character. She is the host of Asakusa’s local program ‘Asakusa Sara TV’ and an idol called Sara Azuma. She will be voiced by the vocalist of the indie band Shojoshiki Elise, Teiko. The band will also cover a song of their own as an insert song in the anime. The song is called ‘Houkago Kappa’ (After-School Kappa).
Asakusa. The three second-year junior high school students Kazuki Yasaka, Toi Kuji, and Enta Jinnai encounter a mysterious kappa life-form called Keppi. It transforms the boys into kappa by forcefully stealing their shirikodama (This is a mythical organ in Japanese folklore which is said to contain the soul of a human and for some reason can be extracted from a human’s backside.).
‘If you want to return to your original form, connect in a certain way and bring me a zombie’s shirikodama.’
Are the boys able to rob the zombie’s shirikodama?! At the same time there is something about to happen at the police station of Reo Niiboshi and Mabu Akutsu.
