Hello! I am Kitahata, the editor-in-chief at MANGA.TOKYO. I live in Japan and turn press releases from Japanese companies into articles that are easy for those outside of Japan to understand. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
It has been announced that Sailor Moon Crystal Season 4: The Dead Moon Arc, based on Naoko Takeuchi’s manga, will be released in two movies to be screened in Japanese cinemas.
This has been announced at the birthday event for Usagi Tsukino and Chibiusa on 30 June 2017. Directing the movies will be Chiaki Kon, who also worked on Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3: The Death Busters Arc.
Takeuchi also commented on the 25th anniversary of Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon:
‘It has been 25 years since this series has started. Right now, I have the first volume from 6 July 1992 before me. When I open it, there are the characters, full of energy and chatting away without a second of calm, and there are effects and flowers and words scattered everywhere. This 26 year old really enjoyed drawing (even though sometimes it got so dark as if she were dying).
Back during that time, there were so many people who were kind enough to help me with the manga, who read the manga, who went to see the anime, the musical or the TV show, who bought merchandise. Thanks to the power of everybody’s love, it became such a strong and wonderful series.
And that this work after 25 years is still loved by so many, I can only say that I am full of gratitude to everyone.
Thank you very much! It really is the happiest series in the world. And as the author, I am the happiest author in the world.
This year as well, there have been many projects, events, collaborations and a lot of merchandise was released. I am also looking suuuuper (!) forward to the movies. Everyone, please also look forward to the movies!
