The anime Osomatsu-san is getting a new movie called Eiga no Osomatsu-san, which is scheduled to screen in Japanese cinemas in Spring 2019.
Osomatsu-san is based on the gag manga Osomatsu-kun by Fujio Akatsuka and follows the main characters from the manga after they grow up into useless adults. The first season of the anime aired in Fall 2015 and the second season aired from Fall 2017. ‘Osomatsu-san’ also got nominated as Buzzword/Word of the year in 2016.
The teaser for the movie was provided by Naoyuki Asano, who is also in charge of the character designs. It shows the sextuplets as staff members for the movie. A short announcement video was also released, in which we see the oldest of the sextuplets, Osomatsu, who hears about the movie plans and starts to daydream about it. The summary says, ‘The sextuplets go to a high school reunion.’ Yoichi Fujita will continue his work from the series as director, the script will be written by Shuu Matsubara and the character design will be by Naoyuki Asano.
Pre-sale tickets for Eiga ga Osomatsu-san are available online. They can also be bought in cinemas all around Japan from 16 September 2018. As a present for those who have already bought their tickets, they are giving out A4-sized clear files. You can choose between the characters, the illustration is from the ‘Super Teaser Visual’ mentioned earlier.
