Studio Gokumi will release an original anime called LAIDBACKERS in Spring 2019! The anime will be directed by Is the Order a Rabbit? director Hiroyuki Hashimoto and feature a script by Makoto Uezu (Kobo Suba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!). The original characters will be designed by Jiro Suzuki, who also worked on parts of the character design of Touken Ranbu. The cute characters created by Suzuki will then be filled with life through the voice of Rina Hidaka, who will star for the first time in an anime, and her co-stars Himika Akaneya, Yo Taichi, Yumi Uchiyama, Maria Naganawa, Yumiri Hanamori, and Saki Fujita.

In this anime, a reverse another-world story takes place, when heroes and a demon king land in present Kyoto. How will the lives of these girls change when they are reborn without their powers as regular girls (and a dog)? The first visual for this exciting story has been revealed already, as well as a first introduction to the main characters and a short trailer!

Story

The heroine of this story has moved to Kyoto to inherit her grandmother’s candy shop. However, the shop that was supposed to be empty was actually rented out by three girls called Harami, K, and Mai, and their dog! They go on to explain that they are actually heroes who were reincarnated in this world from another world where they would fight demons with swords and magic! Since they have been reborn, they don’t have any of their power anymore and are regular girls. On top of all that their leader, Princess Arnelia, was reborn in the form of a dog! Since the strange girls in her house don’t have a grain of common sense and no relatives to turn to if she were to throw them out, she has no other choice but to live with them for now. Since the girls came to this world, they got used to the foreign peace it has compared to their fight-filled world and they live freely. That is until the former demon king Ran, now re-born as a powerless elementary school student, appears before them with a strange request, ‘Can you help me gather all the fragments of the demon king?’
