The upcoming anime movie Donten ni Warau: Side Story ~Ketsubetsu Yamainu no Chikai~ has released new visuals and two new trailers.

A stage greeting with director Tetsuya Wakano and voice actors Yuichi Nakamura (Tenka Kumo) and Yuki Fujiwara (Mutsuki Ashiya) will be held in Tokyo on 25 November 2017. A preview screening will take place two times in Tokyo on 2 December 2017 with Yuichi Nakamura (Tenka Kumo), Yuki Fujiwara (Mutsuki Ashiya), Yuki Kaji (Soramaru Kumo), Tsubasa Yonaga (Chutaro Kumo) and Kosuke Toriumi (Abe no Sosei) present live on stage.

The original manga Donten ni Warau by Kemuri Karakara was serialized in the monthly magazine Comic Garden.
In the Meiji period, the samurai were stripped of their rights and started to rebel, rampaging across Japan. But even if they were taken to prison, they usually broke out, so a prison was built in a lake to keep them from escaping. To get the criminals into their cells, they now needed someone to transport them there, a role which the three Kumo brothers took on. An anime series aired in 2014,. This new movie trilogy starts with Donten ni Warau: Side Story ~Ketsubetsu Yamainu no Chikai~, to be released in Japanese cinemas on 2 December 1017.

The spin-off will tell the story of the days before and after the main events. WIT STUDIO (Attack on Titan, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) will produce the anime.

Story

‘Unknown to history, we protected the country.’

During that time, we had serious dreams. It’s 11 years before the resurrection of Orochi, who gets revived once every 300 years. There were people who protected the country, unknown to history. They are the Yamainu, who were formed just to fight the Orochi. In addition to Tenka of the Kumo family, where Taiko was the teacher, there are Tenka’s sworn friends, Abe no Sosei and Kiiko Sasaki. However, due to a certain incident, Tenka left the Yamainu and went his own way because there was something he couldn’t protect as long as he was part of the Yamainu. The year is 1879. Orochi has been defeated and under the clear sky of Shiga, the Yamainu and the Kumo brothers reveal the secret of Tenka.
