On December 17, during Jump Festa’s NARUTO × BORUTO stage event held at Makuhari Messe, they made the staggering announcement that NARUTO will be adapted into a Hollywood movie.

The movie’s distribution will be handled by LION’S GATE, best known for the movie franchises Saw and The Hunger Games. The director will be the highly successful up-and-coming VFX image specialist Michael Gracey.

NARUTO is a story about an inferior ninja named Naruto Uzumaki and illustrates his personal development through numerous adventures with his fellow ninja. The manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014. The sequel series BORUTO -NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS- is currently being serialized in the same magazine by original creator Kishimoto (as supervisor) and Ukyou Kodachi (as the script writer). An anime based on the sequel was recently announced.
