The poster visual of the live action movie adaptation of Shoko Hidaka’s manga Hana wa Saku ka (Does the Flower Bloom?) has been revealed.
The poster shows Tsurugi Watanabe, who plays main character Yoichi Mizukawa, along with Hironari Amano as Kazuaki Sakurai, a salaryman who is attracted to Yoichi. They’re sitting back to back at the open corridor, while cherry blossoms are fluttering down.
The cast has also been revealed. Hiroki Fujimoto, Yoichi’s university classmate who has feelings for him, will be played by Akihisa Shiono. Yoichi’s cousin Shota Mizukawa, who lives with Yoichi, will be played by Yuito Obara. Atomu Mizuishi was cast for Takeo Iwasaki’s role, another cousin who is living with Yoichi and the others. The caretaker of the house, Kippei Yoshitomi, will be played by Yasukaze Motomiya.
Hana wa Saku ka is about a 37-year-old salaryman named Sakurai who meets the beautiful 19-year-old university student Yoichi, who is living in an old private house. This is a Boys Love story in which Sakurai is attracted to Yoichi with no care for position or gender. The manga has been serialized by Gentosha Comics in 5 volumes.
Hana wa Saku ka will be released in Japan on 24 February 2018. Kaori Tanimoto directs and Natsuko Takahashi is in charge of screenwriting.
