It has been confirmed that the anime adaptation of Mob Psycho 100, based on the webcomic of the same name by ONE (One-Punch Man) will be getting a second season! The news was announced at the special event Mob Psycho 100 Reigen ~Shirazaru Kiseki no Reinouryokusha~, which took place at the Maihama Amphitheater on 18 March 2018.
The story follows the life and development of middle-schooler Shigeo ‘Mob’ Kageyama as he goes through puberty while trying to keep his insanely strong psychic powers under control. Mob tries to suppress his emotions, but if his emotional gauge reaches 100%, then the emotion he is feeling at the time will be unleashed in a psychic fury. Other characters include Mob’s ‘master’ and (fraudulent) spirit counselor Arataka Reigen, Shigeo’s younger brother Ritsu Kageyama, Mob’s psychic enemy-turned-friend Teruki Hanazawa, and Mob’s self-proclaimed partner, the evil spirit Dimple (Ekubo).
The ‘Mob’ in the title comes from Shigeo’s nickname, which is not only an alternative reading for the kanji of his name but is also a word used in Japanese to mean ‘background character’.
The staff and cast will be back for this new series, so we can expect an amazing spectacle with intense action. We can’t wait to hear more details in the near future!
