On 29 June 2018, the cast and staff of upcoming anime Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou (Sunohara-sou no Kanrinin-san) received religious blessings at Kanda Shrine, Tokyo so that the anime will become a big hit. Before the blessings, a talk event took place with Rina Sato, voice of Ayaka Sunohara, and Eri Kitamura, voice of Aki Shiina. Both talked about their characters and introduced them to the fans.
The real highlight of the event was a life-sized figure of Ayaka Sunohara. She looked as if she had jumped straight out of the manga and was welcomed by the fans with impressed ‘Oh~’s and loud applause. The figure was then blessed with all the well-wishings of the priest, cast members, and committee members. Of course, the fans at the event were also included in the ritual. After this spiritual moment, the talk event restarted and Sato and Kitamura talked about their work in the studio. Fans were curious about the atmosphere at the studio and they explained that instead of an all-girls school, it felt more like fans of the original manga came together to talk about it.
they talked about funny moments in the studio, like the one time when Sato said ‘Yuzu-tan’, instead of ‘Yuzu-chan’ during a recording, resulting in the whole studio bursting into laughter because of the cuteness.
Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou is the story about Aki Shiina, who decides to change his life by moving to Tokyo and attending a middle school there. He is a guy but doesn’t get treated like one. Of course, as a middle school student he is too young to live on his own, so he starts living at the Sunohara dormitory, where he ends up being spoilt and sometimes teased by the mischievous (and slightly naughty) caretaker of the dormitory, Ayaka Sunohara. On top of that, the other people living in the dormitory are all older girls…
The series will start airing on 5 July 2018, 21:00 (JST).
