Lupin the Third is approaching its 50th anniversary and the new TV series called Lupin the Third Part 5 will broadcast from April 2018. Furthermore, the first video of Lupin the Third Part 5 will air during the movie The Castle of Cagliostro‘s TV broadcast on 19 January.
The new series takes place at a present-day French digital company. Lupin, who drives his classic car, carries his old-fashioned pistol, the Walter P38, and uses the internet, mobile terminals, and other digital gadgets in order to stand up against his enemies. The expectations are rising for developments which have not existed before.
Ichiro Okouchi, who is known for the series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is in charge of series composition and screenplay. ‘2000s Lupin Staff’ director Yuichiro Yano, character designer Hisao Yokobori, and others will work for this series too and Okouchi will join the team as series composer and screenwriter. The new series, which is currently in production, will hopefully exceed the previous work, Lupin the Third Part 4.
A new visual has been revealed that depicts Lupin wearing a blue jacket, which is similar to the one he was wearing in Part 4, and a mysterious man beside him. The design closely resembles Arsene Lupin, but is also showing newest technology like a special monocle and a big futuristic building in the background.
The first promotional video will air on the 19 January.
