The newest work of Director Masaaki Yuasa, Lu Over the Wall (Yoake Tsugeru Lu no Uta), will open in Japanese cinemas on 19 May 2017. It has been confirmed that a special stage greeting event will take place on the 2nd day of the movie’s release, 20 May, at Toho Cinemas Shinjuku.
The movie takes place in the lovely fishing port of Hinashi and revolves around Kai, a middle-schooler who has closed off his heart, and his meeting with mermaid girl Lu. This charming youthful story is very moving and teaches us the importance of expressing our true feelings.
The guests appearing at the greeting event include the movie’s stars Kanon Tani (Lu) and Shouta Shimota (Kai). Cast member Shinichi Shinohara and Director Masaaki Yuasa will also join the guest lineup.
Applications for ticket reservations begin on 22 April, and they will go on regular sale on 29 April. Each ticket will cost 2000 yen. Please be aware that premium seats will have an extra fee attached to them.
The director already has an anime movie playing in cinemas as we speak, The Night is Short, Walk on Girl (Yoru wa Mijikashi Aruke yo Otome). Director Yuasa’s works are known for their unique visuals and light-hearted dialog. His works can often be easily distinguished from other anime. You can look forward to the greeting event enlightening us on behind-the-scenes stories and important subjects.
