The MANGA.TOKYO staff had its share of summer. Now, all we wish is for the hot and humid weather to go away and give its place to the red and cool autumn.
An additional cast member has been announced for the live action movie Tokyo Ghoul, based on Sui Ishida’s manga of the same name. Kai Ogasawara, member of pop group Bullet Train (Chotokkyu) will be playing protagonist Kaneki’s best friend, Hide.
The movie Tokyo Ghoul takes place in a Tokyo that is overrun with man-eating ghouls and tells the story of the ups and downs of a university student named Ken Keneki, who has become a half-ghoul himself. Hideyoshi Nagachika (aka Hide) has a bright and bubbly personality that sharply contrasts with the introverted Kaneki. Even after Kaneki becomes part-ghoul, Hide continues to treat him as he always had.
Ogasawara said that he played the character with the feeling of hope that he can help Kaneki keep his humanity. The movie will be released in Japanese cinemas on 29 July.
‘I’m actually a big fan of Tokyo Ghoul myself, so I was really honored to be a part of this. For Kaneki, who drifts between the human and ghoul worlds, I want to be something that can help keep his human heart in place. That’s how I felt when I performed this role. I hope many people can enjoy this work, which has so many feelings packed into it.’
