The artists who will sing the opening and ending themes of TV anime’s Little Witch Academia (the title recently released a new promotional video) have shared their thoughts regarding the upcoming series.
First is YURiKA, a singer who was picked up in the first TOHO animation RECORDS Next Generation Artist Audition and performer of the opening theme, Shiny Ray.
‘When I first heard Shiny Ray, I could feel with my entire being the sense of not wanting to give up and to just keep moving forward. The melody changes between verses, so it’s almost as if the music is telling a story. The bridge represents the characters flying in the sky on their broomsticks, and it’s a powerful song that perfectly fits the girls who are working hard to become witches. It made me want to ride a broomstick! I hope you all give it a listen!’
Next is Yuko Ohara, the artist who sang Magic Parade, the closing theme for the Little Witch Academia Movie. She sings the ending theme, Hoshi wo Tadoreba.
Yuiko Ohara: Artist’s Comment
‘It’s a song I wrote by reading the Little Witch Academia script over and over and over and getting moved every time [laugh]
I had a lot of problems writing the lyrics. The feeling of Akko’s dreaming of the future… I thought about that and carefully chose the right words. I wanted to write a song that expresses that there are endings, but to be able to live the next day in a good mood you can say at the end of the day “Ok! Let’s do my best tomorrow, too!” The song also reassessed a wonderful arrangement, so I hope a lot of people will listen to it!’
An opening theme that expresses the world Akko is going to experience, and an ending theme that expresses purity and femininity. Both songs feature in the promotional video of Little Witch Academia! Check it out!
