Fans of Japanese animation were shocked on 18 July 2019 as news reported that Studio 1 of Kyoto Animation was on fire. Many fans around the world wanted to help the studio that gave them some of their favorite anime series by donating money but were asked to wait. Recently, through their official Twitter account, Kyoto Animation thanked their fans for their continued support and patience and announced that an official donation account is available to all those who still wish to help.
Kyoto Animation explained that the donations will be used ‘to support the families of the victims as well as those who were otherwise affected by the fire, and to rebuild the company.’ Even though it hasn’t been decided yet how and when the money would be used they also state that they ‘will list up the income and expenses of the donation money to guarantee absolute transparency.’
The company is aware that fans from all around the world want to help and commented, ‘We will confirm things on our end and release more information about worldwide donations on our official website.’ In theory it should be possible to send money to the account details written below to make a donation. Just be aware of the applicable fees when sending money overseas and calculate accordingly as to not trouble Kyoto Animation any more in this time of grief.
