AnimeJapan 2016 was held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 26th and 27th, and it hosted a special talk show for TV anime “Kiznaiver” on Green Stage on 27th. Five members of the main cast, Yuuki Kaji (VA for Katsuhira Agata), Hibiku Yamamura (for Noriko Sonozaki), Yuka Terasaki (for Chidori Takashiro), Tomoaki Maeno (for Hajime Tenga), Nobunaga Shimazaki (for Tsuguhito Yuta) and an announcer, Hisanori Yoshida as the MC of the talk show, appeared on the stage.
Kaji showed up in a polka-dot design suit, Yamamura too was wearing a polka dot skirt; it is apparently related to the PV of the anime.
Introducing characters, the main character’s name Agata, the role played by Kaji, was discussed as the first topic. His first name 勝平 can be read both as Kappei and Katsuhira. His name in this show should be pronounced as “Katsuhira” instead of familiar Kappei. Also, Tenga 天河 was brought up as another hard name to read. Tenga is an “all brawn and no brain” character, played by Maeno.
As this show is a complete anime original story with no source, they introduced all the key words scattered in the released PV, such as “Kizuna system”, “experimental city”, “seven deadly sins”, “City of Sugomori”, etc. It appears to be filled with various elements. Yoshida told us, based on his experience of already having watched two episodes in advance, that he didn’t find it difficult after watching the second episode somehow.
The VAs are not informed of the whole story either, and only have the scenario parts for recording, but they said the main staff gave them certain additional information for each character role individually. Kaji, Yamamura, Terasaki, Maeno, and Shimazaki, all showed us their own love to each of their roles by their words on the stage.
They introduced two additional characters at this event, Kazunao Yamada and Mutsumi Urushibara, played by Jun’ichi Suwabe and Mie Sonozaki respectively. They played the voice messages by the two, and other members of the cast also looked excited calmly at the news.
In the near future, an adaption into manga and a new radio streaming will start. On April 2nd a predecessor special show “Kizu-navi” will be aired on TV. This show will be about the making of the show, the cast working hard, and staff messages, so you may want to check it out before watching the main anime story.
Lastly the cast talked about their enthusiasm for the show, and gave a shout-out with the audience, in “Kiznaiver” style and closed the event.
“We all are connected through Kizu (pain)!”
