Studio Ghibli’s Howl’s Moving Castle succumbed to Kimi no Na wa’s heavy siege and fell after the latter managed to earn more than 19,957,000,000 JPY.

Makoto Shinkai’s magnum opus was released last August, and in the last few months it is breaking one record after the other. The movie and its director are nominees in two categories of the 44th Annie Awards, broke the box office record in the UK and Ireland, and considered for an Oscar nomination.

The storm that is Kimi no Na wa will eventually calm, but we can only wonder what it can achieve until then.
