During AnimeJapan 2017 on 26 March, Avex Pictures announced the main cast for the upcoming Summer 2017 anime Kakegurui: Compulsive Gambler. Saori Hayami, the voice actress of Yumeko Jabari, and two more voice actors appeared as guests on stage.
Kakegurui is based on a manga currently being serialized in Square Enix’s GanGan Joker. ‘Tactics’, ‘mind reading’ and ‘competitive strength’ become important assets at this school that Yumeko transfers to because everybody in the school is ranked through gambling.
Saori Hayami will be joined by the cast for her classmates: Meari Saotome and Ryota Suzui were announced to be voiced by Minami Tanaka and Tatsuya Tokutake.
Saori Hayami commented, ‘I hope I will be able to put that unique and unreadable feeling into Yumeko’s voice. Let’s get along well and Kakegurui!’
Minami Tanaka said, ‘At first I was so happy and couldn’t believe that I was chosen. I was really surprised!’
Tatsuya Tokutake, who was cast for a main role for the first time, said, ‘Because it is my first main character, I am nervous. But I will give my best to deliver the charm of that strange world we got introduced to in the original work.’
It was also announced that the rest of the cast will be announced through their official Twitter account starting 25 April 2017. We wonder who will be cast for the student council that always stands in the way of Yumeko!
