The upcoming TV anime Kaguya-sama wa Kokusaretai – Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, lit. ‘Kaguya-sama wants to be confessed to: A romantic battle of wits between geniuses’), based on Aka Akasaka’s manga which is currently being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump, has revealed that it is to air via MBS, TOKYO MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, CTV and TeNY from January 2019. The title has also released its first key visual showing main character Kaguya Shinomiya, who is the vice president of the student council at Shuchiin Academy, and the council’s president, Miyuki Shirogane. The scattered playing cards portray the student council’s secretary Chika Fujiwara and treasurer Yu Ishigami.

Furthermore, some members of the staff have also been revealed. Directing the series will be Mamoru Hatakeyama (Record of Grancrest War, Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju), Yasuhiro Nakanishi (The Idolmaster: SideM, BanG Dream!) is in charge of the series composition. Yuko Yahiro (Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko) is responsible for character design, Kei Haneoka (Owarimonogatari) for music and A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Fate/Apocrypha) are in charge of animation production.

Story

A good family background and a good character! Shuchi’in Academy gathers smart children with bright futures! As the president and vice president of the student council, Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya should be attracted to each other, but… It’s been half a year and nothing has happened! That’s because the two can’t be honest with themselves and have their own pride stand in the way of their feelings. So the only thing they can think about is ‘How can I make the other person confess first?’. Love is fun until a relationship starts! And so starts the fun of this romantic comedy with a battle of wits between geniuses!
