Fall 2017 animeJuuni Taisen: Zodiac War revealed a new visual and comments from Hikaru Nakamura, illustrator of the original novel, and Akira Akatsuki, illustrator of the manga adaptation. The anime will start airing on 3 October 2017.
Juuni Taisen started publishing through Shueisha in May 2015. The author of Bakemonogatari, NisiOisiN, and the manga author of Arakawa Under the Bridge, Hikaru Nakamura, joined to bring us this story of 12 warriors with names inspired from the Chinese zodiac, fighting each other so that one of them can be granted a wish. On 23 September 2017, a manga adaptation of the story by Akira Akatsuki will be released in Shonen Jump Plus.
Because the title uses twelve (=Juuni), the series keeps announcing new information on the 12th of every month. The info we got for 12 September was the new key visual. In the picture, we can see the twelve warriors just before the battle starts. The website has also been updated, using the new key visual in its design. The fortune-telling aspect of the website has also been updated, so a new fortune will be displayed if you enter your birth date and zodiac.
Nakamura said about the anime, ‘I thought a lot about how it would turn out, but it is even better than I imagined and I was surprised. The music is impressive, to see Usagi moving is disgusting [laugh], it is really well made! In short: I was thrilled. I am looking forward to the broadcast.’
Akatsuki said, ‘I am in the process of giving them life through the manga myself [laugh], but it was a very refreshing experience to see them moving and speaking. With this refreshing feeling, I will look forward to the broadcasting of the dark, hot, solid world.’
